Organic Carob Flour is made from the fruits of the evergreen shrubby carob tree, which grows in the Mediterranean regions. It grows well in places with a warm to temperate climate, tolerating hot and humid coastal areas, as well as drought. Its fruits resemble seed pods that are edible, which is why it is grown.
Carob fruits were used as a sweetener even before sugar cane and sugar beets were known. Today, these wonderful fruits are also used in cosmetics, in tobacco processing and paper production.
Carob flour contains a large amount of calcium (three times more than cocoa), magnesium, potassium, the trace elements: iron, copper, nickel, manganese and chromium, as well as vitamins: B1, B2 and A. It has a significant therapeutic effect in diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and gastrointestinal disorders.
How to use: Carob flour is great for making sweet treats. Whether it's pancakes, cakes, or mousses, it adds a light sweetness and is a great substitute for cocoa. And for an even more chocolatey taste, you can combine carob butter with cocoa.
